Location
We are located in lush, cool upcountry Haiku, Maui, where serene Hawaii can still be found. Pilialoha is on a two acre property with half-century old eucalyptus trees and a rose and flower garden. We are near the cowboy and artist town of Makawao, very convenient to Haleakala National Park, road to Hana and the world famous windsurfing beach of Hookipa, and 25 minutes from Kahului Airport -- Maui's main airport. Pilialoha serves as a good central base for exploring the whole island. We are at the elevation of 1300 feet on the slope of Haleakala. We, Machiko and Bill, as owners/innkeepers, reside on the same property and are available for assistance and information.
The living room has a satellite Dish TV, DVD player, CD/iPod docking player with a collection of movies and CDs. Also provided are beach chairs/towels/mats, picnic coolers and coffee thermos, as well as numerous reference books covering topics such as Hawaiiana, Maui, hiking trails, guides to Haleakala National Park and the road to Hana, tropical flowers and fish. Free WiFi and laundry facility included.

The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen.
An assortment of exotic coffees and teas are provided for you to enjoy anytime during your stay. Complimentary fresh fruits, juice and some baked items are placed in the kitchen on your arrival day.
Area Activities
- Haleakala National Park
- The summit (elevation 10,023 feet) of Haleakala National Park is about 45 minutes from Pilialoha. The sunrise at the summit is very popular for early risers. There are many interesting hiking trails to view the world's largest dormant volcano and to take a closer look at plants and birds found only at this elevation in Hawaii.
- Scenic drive to Hana
- It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to drive the 35 miles to Hana Town. But you will want to stop often to view the scenic lookouts, waterfalls and even hike the arboretum along the way. Plan to spend the whole day for this adventure.
- Makawao Town
- This town is just a short jog away (less than 2 miles). It features very good restaurants, boutiques, galleries and local grocers.
- Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center
- Botanical Gardens
- Tedeschi Vineyards
- Hiking
- Mountain Biking
- Horseback Riding
